The way I look at the differences between Hiduism and Buddhism is that they focus on different aspects of the same universe. Hinduism looks more at the cosmology of the universe and Buddhism is more of a psychology. The cosmology found in Hinduism is often accepted by Buddhists - I have read a few references to Brahma (the Hindu God) in Buddhist texts, and other references to the cosmology found in Hinduism. Buddhism, although sometimes accepting this cosmology, views it as unimportant and instead focuses its attention on the problem of suffering and how to end it once and for all. Hope this helps.

Peace,
Remmy
