What I can only say that we shouldn't expect the same things. Even the methods different people use are not the same. When people report that they see lights or have all different sorts of experiences, do not think that you must have them in order to reach the goal.

Simply be mindful.

The three essential stages in meditation remain simply: i) conduct, ii) concentration, iii) right view. That's all. Some can walk thru' all these stages with very minimum other things while some may get side-tracked. I am often adviced that I should use the Dharma to tame my own mind, not to watch others' paths, from my own experiences, I find it very sensible.

Cheers.
