There definitely does seem to be alot of avenues to take on the "Buddhist path", and the more I research the different avenues, the more confused I get!!! But I'm hanging in there, and possibly one day soon, I'll make a decision as to what avenue I'll pursue. Lately, I've been looking into the Kagyu tradition a little, however I definitely refuse to jump into any one thing with both feet firmly planted in mid-air!~ Brian W.

: : Dear all,
: : Lately, I've been reading up on the four schools of Mahayana. It's very interesting. I also learned that the next Buddha (Maitreya) will materialize only when the Buddhist teachings (dharma) have dissapeared from the world. It seems to me that that is going to be a LONG time from now. Of course, my texts could be wrong-or I interpreted them wrong.
: : Anyway, I've tried a little meditation recently-focusing on my breathing. I did it for approx. 10 minutes. Not much time, but for me, it was alot. It also made me feel pretty good when I was finished.

: People would put the year of "the second coming of Maitreya" around 30,000 - 60,000 years, depending on whom you talk to. (Maitreya was in many of the major Mahayana scriptures.) Around 1,300 years ago, a school of Pureland (in China) was surrounding Maitreya: he is in Tusita Heaven and the believers want to be with him (until he comes back to earth tens of thousands of years later).

: As said in most of the Mahayana articles: there are 84,000 doors to the right path. Do walk on one (even you are welcome to check on others).
