I have heard of meditation students suddenly seeing visions surrounding people or simply being there, normally immediately after meditation sessions. I was told of many sights. Some of ghosts, some of queer looking beasts. And, once, of a beautiful naga that flew out of a lake in Vietnam on a full moon night. I have had my own share of such sights. As such, what people see with their psychic eye isn't surprising to me.

The naga vision that people see around you Judith could mean many things. A naga could have chosen to be with you, but for benevolent or malevolent reasons, only you can tell.

A less magnanimous viewpoint is that the "snake shape" could have been an aura of a hue and colour that so resembled a snake. Thus those who could see saw a snake.

Nagas don't always have to look like snakes. Some of them choose to maintain a human form unless they absolutely have to. Others reputably look like the dragons of Chinese and English myth.

I'd like to stress that in general, nagas are fierce deities. From the scriptures and the commentaries, nagas are never shown as the compromising type. Many deities pay homage to the Buddha. And many other deities don't give much attention to the Blessed One when he was alive. Nagas that respected the Buddha were ever humble in his presence. But nagas that didn't prescribe to the Buddha's ways are immediately malevolent to him and his disciples.
